04 May 2017 Prescription Ordering Direct

Call the NHS Prescription Ordering Direct service (POD) on 01732 375262, it is an new easy way for you to order your repeat prescription.
This service launched on the 9th January 2017 and is available Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) from 8am to 4 pm for patients.

24 April 2017 Meningitis ACWY vaccine

Meningitis Vaccination programme
A new programme is underway to protect young adults from new strains of Meningitis, you may have read about this recently in the press (MenACWY)
If you have just finished (or are about to) Year 13 at school then you will be eligible for this vaccine; this should ideally be done before you start further education. 
If you have left school but are still under age 25 then you are also eligible for this vaccine, ideally before you start your next year in further education.
Please contact the surgery on (01892) 511833 to book an appointment with the nurse to receive the vaccine.

24 April 2017 If you're in your seventies don't let shingles become a burning issue - Book vaccination TODAY

Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is an infection of a nerve and the skin around it. It's caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which also causes chickenpox.

It's estimated around one in every four people will have at least one episode of shingles during their life.

The national shingles programme is recommended for people aged 70 to 79 years. Patients will be eligible on the date they turn 70 or 78 years. Patients are called on their 70th birthday and continue to be eligible until their 80th Birthday.

We are currently experiencing a shortage of Practice Nurse appointments, which means that you may have to wait a little longer than usual for non-urgent appointments.

Carers First

Are you a carer for a relative or friend? Carers First come in to the surgery on the 3rd Wednesday of the each month. Carers can book an appointment via reception to get expert advice on making sure that they are getting all the support to which they are entitled. If you wish to have a confidential chat with our Carers' Champion, please ask for Heather Keywood.
 

Other Services

Other Services Available in the Kingswood Room include:
  • Physiotherapy Service – all day Monday & Tuesday every week
  • Ultrasound clinic 1st Thursday of each month
Both of the above services can be accessed by a referral from your GP.

21 February 2015 NHS Health Checks

The check is part of a national scheme to help prevent the onset of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.

Checks are available here at the Surgery for our patients between the ages of 40 and 74.  A rolling process is underway ensuring all appropriate patients will receive an invitation. Please telephone the surgery to make an appointment.

20 February 2015 NHS 111 Service

NHS 111 is a free, service to help people access urgent local health services when they need them, if you live in Kent and Medway and need to contact the NHS for urgent care, there will only be three numbers...

  1. life-threatening emergencies 999
  2. your GP Practice 01892 511833
  3. NHS 111

Calls to 111 are free and answered by fully trained advisers who assess symptoms, give advice, arrange for patients to speak directly to a health professional if they need to, or send an ambulance if needed.

NHS 111 is for patients who:

  • Need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency
  • Think they need to go to A&E or need another NHS care service
  • Don’t know who to call or don’t have a GP

For less urgent health needs, patients should contact their GP or local pharmacist in the usual way. For immediate, life-threatening emergencies call 999. For more information, visit www.nhs.uk/NHS111.

04 August 2012 Payment for Private Services

Some of the services we offer are private (not an NHS service). Completion of forms, writing private letters, travel vaccinations are some examples; these items we have to charge for. Payment can be made by credit card or cash and must be paid for in advance.
